  6. Most people will agree that the Novell menu system, while the user interface is
  7. great, has a few problems.  Fortunately the problems effect only the System
  8. Manager.  The AutoPilott Menu System has the same look and feel of NetWare,
  9. yet it solves ALL of the problems.

  11. AutoPilott does not use any RAM in the workstation, nor does it create any
  12. temporary files.  Are you tired of GO00X.BAT and RESTART.00X files all over the
  13. network?  Since AutoPilott does not use temporary files, the users need only
  14. Read, Open, and Search (or Read and File scan) rights to use it.  Unlike many
  15. other menus, changes to the AutoPilott menu can be made without disturbing
  16. active users.

  18. Have you ever wondered why you can press <Ins> in SysCon to add a user but you
  19. have to program a complex script file to add a menu option?  AutoPilott allows
  20. the System Manager to add menu commands and sub-menus with the same keystrokes
  21. used in SysCon.  Just press <Ins> to insert a command or sub-menu, <Del> to
  22. delete one, and <F3> to modify.  You may even "cut and paste" sub-menus and
  23. commands!

  25. One of the most important features of AutoPilott is what is called "Intelligent
  26. Command Filtering". Many third party menus re-invent the wheel by defining
  27. groups or other mechanisms to have different menus for different types of
  28. users.  For example, some users have access to accounting while others may not.
  29. AutoPilott allows you to create one master menu and looks on the network or
  30. local drive to make sure each user has access to that program (or it is
  31. installed) before displaying it in their menu.  In effect, to remove an option
  32. from a user's menu you simply take away their rights to that directory.

  34. AutoPilott also allows the filtering by NetWare Users and Groups, or the
  35. Internet Address.  Filtering by User or Group may never be required when
  36. "Intelligent Command Filtering" is used.  By selecting certain Users or Groups
  37. per command, the command will only appear if that User or a member of that
  38. Group is using the menu.  Filtering by internet address restricts the command
  39. to certain stations regardless of the user currently logged in.  This is
  40. useful for communications programs or tape backup software where the application
  41. expects a certain device to exist on that workstation.

  43. Since AutoPilott can be installed under the SYS:LOGIN directory, it may be used
  44. before, during and after logging into the network.  It allows easy integration
  45. of local hard drive environments and the network.  Most users will start
  46. AutoPilott from their AUTOEXEC.BAT file and never see the DOS prompt.  In fact,
  47. exit to the DOS prompt can be password protected.

  49. AutoPilott was designed to be simple and intuitive to use, easy to install and
  50. forgiving to System Managers who have their own style.  Since it was programmed
  51. using the same library routines as the Novell utilities, AutoPilott has the same
  52. look and feel as the Novell menu.  The end users may not even know you have
  53. switched menu systems!

  55. If you're interested by this point, you may be wondering how long it will take
  56. you to convert a Novell menu script to the AutoPilott Menu System.  It takes
  57. about 1 second.  The installation program included that will convert a Novell
  58. menu script directly into AutoPilott data files.

  78. Installation takes less than 5 minutes!  Follow these simple steps:
  79.  
  80.      1.   Login as user SUPERVISOR.
  81.  
  82.      2.   Insert the distribution disk into your floppy drive.
  83.  
  84.      3.   Switch to that drive and run the command: INSTALL
  85.  
  86.           If you are using Novell NetWare, then answer yes when prompted.
  87.  
  88.           Please let AutoPilott install at the default location prompted.
  89.  
  90.           If you would like the install program to add a search drive to the
  91.           AutoPilott directory (for NetWare only) then answer yes when
  92.           prompted to edit the System Login Script.
  93.  
  94.           If you would like the install program to make AutoPilott execute
  95.           automaticaly when your machine "boots" then answer yes when prompted.

  97.           If you have a Novell menu script you would like to convert, be sure to
  98.           specify the name of that file when asked.
  99.  
  100.      5.   AutoPilott is now installed.

  102.           Use your <Ins> key to start adding new menu options.

  108.      A: <CR>                  (assuming the AutoPilott disk is in A:)
